To date, NCTWI has embedded trauma education at 60 schools of social work, prompting the Council on Social Work Education to recognize trauma-informed practice as an essential component of social work education. Since 2016, NCTWI has trained over 250 new CCCT facilitators who have delivered over 500 trainings, reaching more than 7,000 mental health practitioners. Since 2022, NCTWI has expanded CCCT into new disciplines in psychiatry and psychology, including significant movement toward sustained trauma training infrastructure — operationalizing the trauma-related knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for trauma specializations in both disciplines. NCTWI has also developed validated evaluation tools and published five studies on CCCT outcomes and applications, contributing substantially to establishing the evidence base for the CCCT. Additionally, NCTWI has contributed significantly to the library of CCCT-related materials, including the development of the first case focused on American Indian children, a CCCT-aligned supervisory toolkit, a suite of psychology training-focused tools, and a guide for developing CCCT faculty.

The Core Curriculum provides the framework; NCTWI's team is what makes it work in practice. Every discipline, site, and practitioner brings its own context, constraints, and clinical questions, and NCTWI's technical assistance is tailored accordingly, informed by a team of highly skilled, highly experienced clinical trauma practitioners who understand the specific demands of each field they support. This expertise is reinforced through ongoing collaboration with subject matter experts and grounded in current research on child trauma, ensuring that NCTWI's approach evolves alongside the field rather than remaining static.

It is this depth of applied clinical knowledge — not just familiarity with the curriculum — that allows NCTWI to adapt trauma education to the real needs of the professionals and systems it serves.
